Life with a 14 month old has officially shifted my world. It has opened my world to new possibilities, forced me to transition my roles in the various areas of my life, and yes…I don’t get out as much. I tried for quite some time to make it all work at 150% but have decided to put the brakes on that plan. It simply isn’t working. Bottom line? I don’t always make every after hours meeting anymore. I might not even get to schedule as many lunches, coffee dates, or attend special events as often as I used to, but that doesn’t mean I’m not excited by the crazy awesome things happening in Birmingham. So excited that I wanted to spend this post talking about three upcoming food-focused events:

Health Action Partnership “Healthy Food Choices” Priority Group Meeting
Tuesday, January 22; 9-11 am
I’m looking forward to co-facilitating the “Healthy Food Choices” Priority Group meeting next Tuesday morning at United Way of Central Alabama. If you would like to attend, please RSVP by emailing healthaction@jcdh.org. If you would like to find our more information about the Health Action Partnership, please click HERE.

WBHM Issues & Ales: Food (brought to you by WBHM’s Junior Advisors)
Thursday, January 24 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Rogue Tavern
First off, I’d like to thank the team at WBHM for focusing on our food culture, the food industry, and food insecurity in our community. Second, I’m super excited to see my friends/mentors/colleagues represented on the panel (and even better they are all WOMEN). I’m mostly looking forward to the diverse dialogue I hope will emerge around our local food issues. I am doing everything in my power to make it work with my schedule so that I can attend. Looking forward to seeing YOU there. Need more info? Just click HERE!

Food Blog South 2013
Friday, January 25 – Saturday, January 26
I was honored to speak at the very first Food Blog South and had the best time.  This conference has expanded and impacted the food blogging/writing world in so many ways. I’m proud to know the founders (Ms. Shaun Chavis and Mr. Jason Horn) and thrilled that the conference supports our friends at DISCO. Word on the street is there are only a few tickets left, so please consider getting yours ASAP. Register by clicking HERE.

My goal for Food Revival this year is to keep up with local food-focused events  and post them regularly. I always find it helpful when writers post a list of their “favorite” things or some of their favorite articles from the week. It’s hard to keep up with everything going on and I apologize in advance if I leave anything out. And please holler at me if you know of upcoming events or interesting food-focused articles I may leave off because I can easily add them.

Okay that’s enough for today. Hope to get in the kitchen this weekend, which means I will post new recipes soon.
